Fallout 4 review, day two: Rebuilding the World



Once you've made your escape from the insidious Vault 111, Fallout 4 begins to feel a little fractured, becoming a casualty of its own vast possibilities.

While still possessed of the narrative urgency to find your son Shaun, kidnapped by unknown forces mid-cryo sleep, your instinct as a player is, rightfully, to check every nook and cranny for items, ammo, and supplies. Even junk is useful, as it can later be salvaged for materials, and so you're likely to spend your first moments on the nuclear-ravaged surface scrounging for bits when you probably should be trying to remain focused.
