Pokemon shooting was averted by paying attention to online threats


It probably hasn't escaped your attention that there was a potential shooting massacre thwarted at this year's Pokemon World Championships in Boston. It did escape my attention though -- and I was there.

In fact, it wasn't until I was heading for the airport at roughly 8pm EST last night that I heard the first rumblings of anything having gone down -- a single tweet from a friend asking if I knew anything about it. I didn't, said I was fine, and switched by phone off. By the time I turned it back on after landing in the UK today, I was inundated with texts, Facebook messages, and further tweets asking if I was OK, or how serious it was.
