Skylanders SuperChargers review: on the road to success

The Skylanders race back to consoles, a now familiar annual excursion with the franchise that kickstarted the toys to life genre. Yet while there is indeed a new raft of merchandise to chase and some familiar hallmarks to the gameplay, this year's offering brings some of the biggest innovations the line has ever seen.

SuperChargers' hook for the year is the introduction of vehicles. It makes a certain shrewd kind of business sense -- kids love toy cars, kids clearly love Skylanders, combine the two, profit, right? -- but they really do work fantastically well together. Just a short time with the game will leave you with a "why didn't they think of this before?" sort of stunned realisation that this is something quite special.
