YouTuber asked indie dev for thousands to feature game


YouTube is big business when it comes to the games industry. It's not just that the platform has such faith in the medium that it's launched its own streaming portal, but popular games broadcasters can leverage their viewing figures into prosperous careers. A top YouTuber featuring a game on their channel can even significantly increase awareness and, importantly, sales of a game -- an influence that some may be starting to seriously cash in on.

In a post on Reddit, Ben Tester from independent developer Wales Interactive -- creators of Soul Axiom -- revealed that the studio had been approached by a (diplomatically left unnamed) YouTuber who offered to feature one of their games for the princely sum of $22,000 (£14,250).
